Jeel Scholarship Fund

Building a Better Future

About Us
The Jeel Scholarship Fund (JSF) evolved through the deep
friendship and faith of two remarkable women:
Najwa Sahhar, Palestinian Christian Head of Jeel al Amal,
(Generation of Hope), Orphanage and School near Bethany,
a Christian institution that does the most incredible work
caring for youngsters of all religions, or none, and the
Rev. Alison Askew, retired Priest.
The Fund was established in 2020 with the aim of
providing grants for further education to school leavers
from the Jeel al Amal School.
Youngsters typically come from families who, for multiple reasons are unable to care for them
or they were at risk, and before this initiative was established, very few were able to go on to
further education, simply through lack of funds.
A committee is in place to actively raise funds for the project, and, to ensure transparency,
the Fund is managed by the McCabe Educational Trust.
Sadly, Alison passed away after a long illness, in November of 2024.
The Scholars paid their respects:

I was deeply saddened with the sad news of the passing . I was always in contact with her, and she would check on me from time to time. That’s why I was shocked to hear she passed away. May God have mercy on her. She taught us a lesson, which is to love, give, and help. And God willing, once our situation improves and we advance, we will continue on her path, helping one another and spreading goodness and love .
There's a saying that goes, "Everyone you meet has something to teach you." She taught me many things, and God willing, we will continue on her path. Remembered and never forgotten. RIP dear Reverend Alison.
